7 Days Uganda Safari
Day 1: Arrival and Travel to Murchison Falls National Park
Upon landing, a company representative and driver/guide greet you and head toward Murchison Falls National Park—the largest protected area in Uganda. This park shelters elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and several antelope species. Along the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino walk lasting two to three hours, then pause in Masindi for lunch. Afterward, continue into the park and check in at Paraa Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight accommodations.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Boat Ride at the Falls’ Base, and Hike
Begin with an early breakfast, followed by a game drive on the northern side of the Nile, lasting about three to five hours. Look out for elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, hartebeest, Uganda kobs, oribis, and waterbucks. Return to the lodge for lunch.
Later, board a boat along the Nile to reach the base of Murchison Falls. Crocodiles, hippos, and various birds—such as kingfishers, cormorants, bee-eaters, and shoebill storks—can be observed near the water. From the base, walk up Baker’s Trail to view the falls from multiple vantage points. Your driver will meet you at the top and bring you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have an early meal and link up with your guide/driver for a full-day ride to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. Enjoy a midday stop for lunch along the route. Arrive in the evening, settle in, and spend the night at Park View Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Afternoon Boat Ride
Start with an early breakfast, then proceed to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking. Descend into a mature tropical forest below sea level, home to chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and olive baboons. This adventure typically runs two to five hours. Once you find the chimps, observe them as they move through the forest canopy.
Afterward, head back to the lodge to refresh, then travel to the Kazinga Channel for a boat ride. This waterway hosts large numbers of hippos and crocodiles, with buffaloes, elephants, and giraffes often seen near the shores. Bird enthusiasts may spot several species as well. Conclude the day with dinner and overnight at the same lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Rise early for breakfast and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, approximately four to five hours away. The route passes through the Ishasha sector, where tree-climbing lions might be seen. Break for lunch on the way, arriving at Bwindi by late afternoon. Check in at Mahogany Springs Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Gorilla Trek in Bwindi
After an early meal and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority officials, venture into the forest with ranger guidance to search for mountain gorillas. The duration ranges from two to eight hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you locate them, spend up to one hour quietly observing their daily routines—feeding, grooming, and interacting. Other forest dwellers such as various monkeys and bird species may appear along the way. Following your trek, receive a certificate, then return to Mahogany Springs Lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 7: Return to Kampala (Around Nine Hours)
Have an early breakfast, then begin the drive back to Kampala. Break for lunch in Mbarara or Masaka, and make a brief stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos and a water demonstration. Visit the Royal Drum Village in Mpambire to pick up souvenirs, then continue to Kampala. Upon arrival, freshen up before heading to the airport for your departure flight, concluding this safari.
